Community Board Application

Olympias Music Foundation brings communities in Greater Manchester together through music.

From violin lessons for children on free-school meals, music and movement projects for individuals with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), community choirs for migrant women and school children, and a wide range of community-led arts projects and performances, we believe that everyone should be given the opportunity to participate in and benefit from making music together.

Since 2015, we have delivered nearly 27,000 free music lessons to children in your community, engaging hundreds more through workshops and performances.

What is the Community Board?

As a charity, we are governed by our trustees who you can check out here. They are fantastic, supportive, and kind, but their voice isn't your voice. We are looking for dedicated, invested parents/guardians to oversee and advise the running of the charity, ensuring that we are providing the best service we possibly can to our young people and their families. This is also the opportunity to meet and spend time with other grown ups involved with the charity who you might not have had a chance to get in contact with!

The Community Board:
  1. Influences how decisions are made and services are delivered

  2. Represents the voice of Olympias service users

  3. Is a space to hear and put into practice new thoughts and ideas

  4. Reflects on and feeds back about projects and services

  5. Ensures board members are given the opportunity to receive training and support

What we need

You will be required to attend up to four quarterly board meetings per year. However, we hope board members will be more actively involved and also support discussed changes, attend Olympias events, and advocate for the charity at public events.

Length of Appointment

Board members will be appointed for a term of one year, with a possible extension subject to the agreement of the other Trustees.

Expenses

This is a voluntary role, but reasonable expenses incurred may be claimed back from Olympias. These include travel, accommodation, childcare, postage and phone calls.
