Charlie Widdicombe

Development Manager

Charlie’s passion for music began with learning the piano aged 5, before becoming a chorister in York Minster. He started playing the trumpet aged 8 and was principal trumpet of Young Sinfonia at the Sage Gateshead. He studied music at the University in Manchester from 2015-18, singing in Ad Solem chamber choir and playing in the University Big Band, for which he became Manager. In his final year Charlie was President of Manchester University Music Society (MUMS). He founded FC Music and began the annual tradition of a charity football match between the University and the RNCM.


Charlie also works for the Hallé Orchestra, working on projects including the inaugural Siemens Hallé International Conductors Competition and the award-winning Workplace Choir Programme. In his spare time, Charlie is an amateur motorsports writer and plays the trumpet in the England Football Supporters Band, MSC Big Band and 10 piece collective The Moods. He is a keen runner, footballer and tennis player.
