Charlie Widdicombe

Development Manager

Charlie’s passion for music began with learning the piano aged 5, before becoming a chorister in York Minster. He started playing the trumpet aged 8 and was principal trumpet of Young Sinfonia at the Sage Gateshead. He moved to Manchester in 2015 to study music at the University of Manchester. Whilst there, he sang in the chamber choir and played in the University Big Band, for which he became Manager, before holding the role of President for Manchester University Music Society (MUMS). He founded FC Music and began the annual tradition of a charity football match between the University and the RNCM.

Since graduating in 2018, Charlie has worked for the Hallé Orchestra in a development and ensembles capacity, and is a managing partner of MSC Big Band. In his spare time, Charlie plays the trumpet in several groups, including the England Football Supporters Band, MSC Big Band and 10 piece collective The Moods. He is a keen runner, footballer and tennis player.
